In Surah Al-Zumar 39:9, Allah says, “Say, ‘Are those who know equal to those who do not know?'” This verse emphasizes the significance of knowledge and the distinction it brings. Science, with its systematic approach to understanding the natural world, allows us to uncover the mysteries of creation. Mathematics provides a foundation for logical reasoning and problem-solving. Social sciences enable us to understand human behavior and societal dynamics. Modern subjects such as computer science equip us with the skills needed to thrive in the digital age.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of seeking knowledge in all its forms. In a well-known Hadith narrated in Sahih Al-Bukhari (Hadeeth no. 69), the Prophet said, “Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim.” This Hadith underscores the obligation placed upon Muslims to seek knowledge and highlights its broad scope, encompassing various disciplines.
